London: Global electric vehicle sales rose 7% year-on-year in June, reaching 2 million vehicles, while sales for the first half of the year totaled 9.6 million.
According to Yemen News Agency, the London-based data analytics firm Benchmark Mineral Intelligence released its June electric vehicle sales figures on Friday. The data indicates that 2 million electric vehicles were sold worldwide in June, marking a 7% increase compared to the same period last year and an 11% rise compared to May.
During the first six months of the year, global sales experienced a 2% year-on-year increase, reaching a total of 9.6 million vehicles. Europe set a record in June with sales of 530,000 electric vehicles, representing a 28% increase compared to the previous month and a 31% increase compared to June of the previous year.
In contrast, electric vehicle sales in China, the world's largest market, saw an 11% year-on-year decrease to one million units in June. However, exports from Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers reached a new record high in June, exceeding 500,000 vehicles.
