Socotra: The Governor of Socotra, Hashim Al Suqatri, has emphasized that Yemeni unity, achieved on May 22, 1990, is the destiny and fate of the Yemeni people. He stated that it is a product of immense sacrifices by the people from both the north and south to maintain Yemen's unified identity and geography.
According to Yemen News Agency, Governor Al Suqatri declared in a statement marking the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen that current attempts at division, fragmentation, and secession, particularly in the occupied provinces and islands, are being orchestrated by aggression forces aiming to fragment Yemen and control its strategic and sovereign resources.
Al Suqatri highlighted the ongoing threats in the Socotra Archipelago, where efforts to erase Yemeni identity and destroy its unique environment are turning the region into a center of military activities serving foreign interests. He described these actions as revealing the true nature of occupation and colonial ambitions targeting Yemen's social and national cohesion.
The Governor called upon national forces, political and social entities, and residents of the southern and eastern provinces and Yemeni islands to strengthen unity and align efforts against division and fragmentation projects. He urged them to support the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council in overcoming all conspiracies of guardianship and subordination. Al Suqatri reaffirmed that the awareness and unity of the Yemeni people are pivotal in dismantling secessionist agendas, emphasizing the ongoing struggle for liberation and independence until complete sovereignty is reclaimed, particularly in the Socotra Archipelago.
