Sana'a: The Deputy Minister of Local and Rural Administration, Nasser Al Mahdar, emphasized that Yemeni unity represents the enduring will of a people historically bound by religious and kinship ties. Al Mahdar highlighted that this unity is a profound manifestation of a shared destiny and is deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of Yemenis, transcending mere political events.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al Mahdar made these remarks during a statement commemorating the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen on May 22. He noted that Yemeni unity, officially declared on May 22, 1990, has always been more than a political milestone. It is a national legacy that resists becoming a pawn in political games driven by foreign ambitions. This unity, he stated, is a testament to the deep-seated connections among Yemenis, anchored in geography, religion, language, and authentic traditions.
Al Mahdar acknowledged the challenges faced by Yemeni unity, including conspiracies and attempts to incite division. However, he asserted that these efforts have failed due to the robust foundation of religious, social, and cultural bonds that keep the unity intact. He described Yemeni unity as not only the clearest embodiment of the Yemeni people's struggle but also a beacon of hope for broader Arab and Islamic unity.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that attempts to undermine Yemeni unity have become more overt, driven by external forces aiming to revert Yemen to a state of division. He highlighted the significance of the Quranic march and the September 21 revolution, led by Sayyed Abdul Malik Badr Al Din Al Houthi, in reinforcing unity as a civilizational project that transcends geographical boundaries and promotes cohesion among Yemenis.
Al Mahdar called on all Yemenis to reject divisive agendas and uphold the principles of unity, emphasizing the importance of freedom, independence, and sovereignty. He urged rallying around the Quranic project to liberate occupied areas from foreign influence and striving for genuine local development, which he believes is crucial for maintaining the strength and stability of Yemeni unity.
