Sana'a: The General Committee of the General People's Congress (GPC) unanimously voted during its meeting on Wednesday to appoint Sheikh Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i, the First Deputy Chairman of the GPC, as the party's Secretary-General.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Sheikh Al-Ra'i and commenced with the recitation of Al-Fatihah in memory of General Committee member and Prime Minister, the martyr Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, along with his fellow martyrs and all martyrs of the homeland who perished due to the American-Zionist aggression against Yemen.

The General Committee extended its congratulations to the Yemeni people on the 58th anniversary of the expulsion of the British occupier from the south of the homeland on November 30, 1967. It expressed confidence that the Yemeni people will continue their struggle against new occupiers, just as they successfully expelled the British colonial power.

During the proceedings, Sheikh Al-Ra'i also discussed the latest developments in the country, reiterating the GPC's commitment to maintaining unity and cohesion within the internal front between the GPC and Ansar Allah. This unity is seen as essential to confront aggression, blockades, and conspiracies targeting Yemen's unity and stability.
