Hajjah: Governor Hilal al-Sufi and the province's mobilization official, Hamoud al-Maghrabi, inaugurated the Talahiya Water Project in Kushar District, powered by solar energy. The project aims to provide clean water to the residents of Talahiya and surrounding villages in the 'Anhum Al-Sharq' area.
According to Yemen News Agency, the project, implemented by the Red Crescent Society, includes a 35,000-watt solar system, pumping and distribution pipelines, and a water intake facility. The project was built at a cost of $60,000, funded by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Additionally, seven water intakes were rehabilitated and connected to the project for $3,100, funded by the Direct Aid Association.
Governor al-Sufi and al-Maghrabi emphasized the importance of sustainable projects in delivering drinking water. They urged the Red Crescent to expand such initiatives and highlighted the support from humanitarian partners. The officials also stressed their commitment to overcoming challenges faced during implementation.
During their visit, the officials also inspected ongoing water projects in seven local intakes and the water supply project in al-Shaathmah and Wadi al-Jadlah. They noted that the use of solar energy reduces costs, ensures a continuous water supply, and helps prevent diseases.
