Hajjah: Dr. Mohammed Al-Mansour, Deputy Minister of Health and Environment, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlani, Director of the Health Office in Hajjah, have initiated a campaign aimed at eliminating mosquito breeding sites to combat malaria and dengue fever in the province.
According to Yemen News Agency, the campaign was launched in the Sharas district and will run for six days. It is implemented by the National Malaria Control Program and the Health Office in Hajjah, with funding from the "Yemen" Development Foundation. The campaign's objective is to fill swamps and remove waste, targeting 15 districts in Hajjah and two in Amran. It also seeks to raise awareness about malaria prevention methods in public areas.
Deputy Minister Al-Mansour emphasized that the campaign aligns with directives from both revolutionary and political leadership, focusing on rural areas in accordance with government priorities. He urged local communities to participate actively in the campaign to enhance public health.
Dr. Mithaq Al-Sadda, Director of the Malaria Control Program, highlighted that the campaign involves multiple control activities against mosquitoes transmitting malaria and dengue. This is the second campaign in the last two months, following a previous initiative in Al-Hodeida province. The current campaign is coordinated with the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development and includes community mobilization, revival of eradication initiatives, and routine activities to supply health facilities and community health volunteers with necessary resources, ensuring free diagnosis and treatment for citizens.
Dr. Al-Kahlani noted that 80 personnel, organized into 11 teams, are executing the campaign across various districts. These teams comprise staff from the ministry, the Health Office, the Malaria Program, and local authorities. He commended the district directors for their previous facilitation efforts, which contributed to overcoming challenges and ensuring the campaign's success.
