Hajjah: A meeting in Hajjah Governorate, led by Governor Hilal Al-Sufi, convened today to discuss strategies for addressing flood damage in the Tihama districts.
According to Yemen News Agency, the session included the participation of governorate deputies Nabil Al-Jarb, Ibrahim Amer, and Abdulkarim Khamousi, alongside directors from the Tihama districts. The discussions focused on reviewing an emergency plan designed to develop solutions for existing damages and to establish precautionary measures in anticipation of future flood events.
The meeting highlighted the importance of swiftly deploying the governorate's resources to the affected districts. This initiative aims to implement necessary solutions, carry out urgent interventions in flood-damaged areas, construct barriers to safeguard residents' homes and properties from erosion, and clear roads for those displaced and affected by the floods.
A critical role was assigned to the governorate's emergency operations room, which was tasked with assessing the extent of the damages. The meeting underscored the involvement of the Red Crescent Society and the Zakat Office in providing urgent assistance to those impacted. Furthermore, it emphasized the significance of community initiatives to support efforts in constructing barriers and reopening roads.
Governor Al-Sufi stressed the importance of collaborative efforts and maintaining a high level of activity to mitigate flood damage. He also advocated for community engagement in implementing initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges posed by the floods.
