Handover of Solar Power System Project Sites for Water Wells in Matnah

Sana'a: The local authority in Sana'a province, along with the branch of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation and the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project, handed over the sites for a solar power system installation project to operate wells in Matnah, Bani Matar District, to the implementing party.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project involves supplying and installing a solar power generation system to operate two wells associated with the corporation's branch in Matnah. This initiative is funded by the World Bank through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) at a cost of $290,000.

During the handover event, Ali Al-Thayb, Director of the Local Corporation in the province, and Engineer Mohammed Al-Shami, Director of the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project, underscored the importance of these projects in reducing water shortages caused by population density in Matnah.

Engineer Fuad Al-Ma'dani, Director of the Corporation's branch in Matnah, remarked that the branch, supported by the local authority, has made progress in implementing necessary measures to provide water to the city, despite challenges posed by population growth and urban expansion.
