Taiz: The Hawafila Cubs team was crowned on Thursday as champions of the juniors category in the final match of the Wahid Academy Tournament for Juniors and Youth held in Mawiyah District, Taiz Governorate, after defeating the Al-Mueiteeb Academy team with a score of four goals to two.
According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament, which lasted for a month, featured the participation of 13 teams in the juniors category and nine teams in the youth category. It was organized under the sponsorship of the local authority and supervised by the Office of Youth and Sports in the governorate and the Shabab Mawiyah Club.
The final match was filled with excitement and competitiveness, as the Hawafila Cubs led the first half with three goals to one. In the second half, both teams scored one goal each, allowing the Hawafila Cubs to secure victory and claim the championship title.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the Director of the Youth and Sports Office in Taiz, Saeed Al-Sunafi, along with the head of the district office in Mawiyah, Saleh Al-Buraihi, the Secretary-General of Shabab Mawiyah Club, Mansour Al-Musha’a, and several sheikhs and dignitaries of the district, honored the participating teams and distributed awards to the winners.
