Dhamar: Health sector employees in Dhamar governorate held a rally on Monday to affirm their readiness to support efforts aimed at completing the liberation of the country and ending the aggression and blockade, coinciding with Ashura and the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein.
According to Yemen News Agency, participants carried banners endorsing the contents of a recent statement by leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, including support for the liberation of all Yemeni territory and the restoration of the country's resources, security, and independence.
Speaking at the event, Province Undersecretary Mahmoud al-Jabin praised the resilience of health workers and their continued provision of medical services despite ongoing challenges. He emphasized the necessity of combined efforts from all sectors, particularly the health sector, which has shown competence and preparedness under difficult conditions.
Al-Jabin also commended health workers for their sense of religious, national, and humanitarian responsibility in serving society. A statement read by Dhamar Health Office Director Dr. Tariq al-Khaywani noted that the rally was in response to a call by leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi for greater mobilization to end the aggression and blockade.
The statement highlighted that health workers have remained at the forefront of providing humanitarian and medical services despite attacks on healthcare facilities and shortages of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment attributed to the conflict and blockade. These were described as violations of international humanitarian law.
The continuation of the blockade and attacks on Yemen for over a decade was condemned, with the statement noting severe consequences for public health and civilian lives. It expressed that these conditions have strengthened Yemenis' determination to defend the country and continue supporting the Palestinian cause.
Health sector employees in Dhamar declared full readiness to increase preparedness and mobilize available resources to enhance healthcare services and ensure the continued delivery of medical care. The statement called on health workers to participate in additional training programs, including general mobilization courses and CPR training, to improve medical and emergency response capabilities.
The statement concluded by describing Ashura as an occasion to draw inspiration from the values of sacrifice, patience, perseverance, dignity, and resistance to oppression associated with Imam Hussein, reaffirming the commitment of health workers to continue serving the country and providing lifesaving care.
