Hodeida Opens First Mango Export Center, Ships Initial Batch to Oman

Hodeida: The first mango collection and export center in Hodeida province was inaugurated on Wednesday in the al Sa'id area of Bayt al Faqih district. The center marks a significant development for the region's agricultural sector, specifically in the enhancement of mango production and export capabilities.

According to Yemen News Agency, the center, established in collaboration with the Bayt al-Faqih Multipurpose Cooperative Society, has already successfully shipped its first batch of mangoes to the Sultanate of Oman. This initiative aims to bolster local agriculture by providing a structured approach to the export of mangoes.

Engineer Hilal al-Jashari, Value Chain Officer, highlighted the center's importance in advancing local mango production. Al-Jashari also assured the support of relevant authorities and encouraged the formation of stronger partnerships between farmers and private sector investors through the cooperative society.

Center Director Fawaz al Sharafi elaborated on the center's operations, which involve the sorting, packaging, and preparation of mangoes for transport and storage in compliance with international quality standards. The inauguration event was attended by local leaders and farmers, signifying community support and involvement in this new venture.
