Sana'a: The Hodeidah Governorate Appeals Prosecution has approved the release of 38 prisoners on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, in implementation of the directives of the Revolution Leader, the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the Attorney General.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Head of the Appeals Prosecution, Judge Amin Al-Qarni, clarified that these decisions were made during his visit last Sunday. He was accompanied by the representative of the Presidential Committee Sheikh Ali Qarsha and the Deputy Prisons Prosecutor Judge Waleed Suleiman to the Central Reformatory. The visit aimed to inspect and review the conditions of the prisoners, discuss their situations, and release those eligible.
He pointed out that those released are individuals who have served three-quarters of their sentence for serious crimes and half of their sentence for non-serious crimes. Additionally, the remainder of the sentence has been pardoned for prisoners with no prior criminal record and who have demonstrated good conduct and behavior, while providing the necessary guarantees.
Judge Al-Qarni confirmed that releasing this group of prisoners reflects the humanitarian orientation of the revolutionary, political, and judicial leadership, embodying the values of solidarity and mercy whose meaning is reinforced during the blessed month of Ramadan.
He mentioned that the Prosecution will continue to follow up on the conditions of prisons, work on expediting the processing of cases involving prisoners in its custody, and perform its assigned duties with utmost care and responsibility to protect society and safeguard rights and freedoms.
