HR Commission Denounces Saudi Airstrike on Residential Building in Al-Turbah City

Al-Turbah:A Saudi airstrike on Sunday evening targeted a residential building in the center of Al-Turbah city, located in the Al-Shamayatayn District of Taiz Governorate. The National Commission for Human Rights has condemned this attack, which resulted in significant damage to civilian property and caused panic among women and children, describing it as a blatant violation of international and humanitarian laws.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Commission's statement highlighted that the deliberate targeting of civilian-populated areas in Al-Turbah, which is free of military presence, indicates a continued strategy of collective punishment against the Yemeni people by the Saudi forces. The bombing of homes is seen as an attempt to weaken the resolve and awareness of the residents of Taiz.

The statement accuses the Saudi aggressor of committing a war crime under the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. It calls on the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and the UN Envoy to openly condemn the attack, warning that silence may encourage further aggression. Additionally, it urges human rights organizations to visit Al-Turbah to document the damage and collect testimonies.

The Commission also holds the international community accountable for supplying weapons to Saudi Arabia, which are used against Yemenis. It stresses that these acts will not go unpunished and that those responsible will face justice, regardless of how much time passes. The statement concludes by emphasizing the Yemeni people's resilience and determination to continue their struggle for freedom and independence, and to expel the Saudi-Emirati occupation.
