Human Rights Authority Condemns Saudi Attacks on Taiz Factories and Road

Taiz:The National Human Rights Authority has condemned airstrikes by Saudi forces targeting factories and Heijat Al-Abd Road in the Taiz province.

According to Yemen News Agency, the authority stated that the attacks represent two serious crimes the systematic destruction of factories, which has displaced dozens of workers' families and deprived them of their livelihoods, and the bombing of Heijat Al-Abd Road, a critical route used by millions for transporting food, medicine, and fuel.

The authority described the attacks on factories as a war crime under Article 54 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, and the targeting of the road as collective punishment prohibited under Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. It accused Saudi forces of exacerbating the suffering of Taiz residents while publicly claiming concern for the province's siege, asserting that those who target the only lifeline into Taiz are responsible for its isolation.

The authority held Saudi forces fully responsible for the consequences of the road's disruption on patients, travelers, and the transport of goods. It called on the United Nations and the international community to condemn attacks on civilian infrastructure and hold those responsible accountable. The authority also mentioned that its field teams are documenting these violations for inclusion in its war crimes and crimes against humanity records.
