Sana'a: The Yemeni Human Rights Center has issued a strong condemnation against the Saudi enemy's ongoing escalation and renewed aerial, artillery, and missile attacks on various Yemeni governorates.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Center released a statement denouncing the Saudi enemy's continued direct and systematic targeting of civilian sites, homes, service facilities, and correctional institutions. These attacks have resulted in casualties and injuries among civilians, including women and children.
The statement highlighted a recent incident where the Saudi enemy shelled a residential home in the Akhdu' Asfal isolate, Maqbanah District, Taiz Governorate. This attack left a woman and her three daughters injured, with wounds ranging from serious to moderate. Furthermore, airstrikes near Othman School in the Al-Rawd Al-Rabie area of Al-Ta'iziyah District during a funeral procession endangered the lives of civilians and mourners.
The Center also condemned the targeting of the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Hazm District, Al-Jawf Governorate, which led to the complete destruction of the facility and resulted in 14 inmates being either dead or injured, with the toll expected to rise.
Additionally, the Center criticized the Saudi enemy's sequence of airstrikes, cruise missiles, and artillery shelling on residential and agricultural areas in Sa'ada, Marib, Al-Bayda, and Al-Hodeida governorates. Specific areas targeted include Al Sheikh in Munabbih District and Sarah isolate in Majz District, Sa'ada Governorate.
The statement from the Yemeni Human Rights Center classified these Saudi actions as a full-fledged crime of aggression. It emphasized that targeting civilian objects, homes, correctional facilities, and schools are war crimes and crimes against humanity, which violate international rules and provisions, including the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and Additional Protocol I of 1977.
The Center affirmed that these escalations breach international humanitarian law and international human rights law, which provide special protection for hospitals, schools, and detention centers, and prohibit attacks on civilians.
Furthermore, the Center criticized the United Nations and the UN Security Council for their continued failure to suppress aggression and maintain peace and security in the region as per the UN Charter. It urged human rights organizations and international bodies to condemn the Saudi aggression and seek justice for the violations against civilians.
The Yemeni Human Rights Center called upon humanitarian organizations in Yemen to offer urgent relief and medical aid to victims and those affected by the attacks. It also commended the efforts of civil defense and rescue teams who responded promptly to aid victims trapped under the rubble in Al-Jawf and other targeted areas, providing immediate medical care.
