Ibb Governorate Emergency Committee Discusses Urgent Flood Damage Measures

Sana'a: The Ibb Governorate Emergency Committee, under the leadership of Secretary-General of the Local Council, Amin Al-Warafi, convened to address the pressing issue of flood damage in the governorate's center and districts, as well as to review the ongoing efforts aligned with the governor's strategic plan.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting concentrated on bolstering the role of emergency teams in floodwater drainage and road clearance. It also emphasized leveraging the resources of relevant authorities to ensure a swift and effective response. Discussions covered the responsibilities of various service agencies and confirmed the initiation of preventive measures.

The committee sanctioned the execution of urgent solutions and the regular updating of damage assessments. Al-Warafi highlighted the necessity of inter-agency coordination, securing essential funding and equipment, and enhancing readiness and rapid response capabilities.

Additionally, he instructed directorate leaders to develop comprehensive emergency plans, implement measures to safeguard water, electricity, and communications infrastructure, and conduct field assessments to evaluate damage and observe the status of dams and barriers.
