Ibb Meeting Discusses Expanding Cultivation of Prickly Pear and Cash Crops

Paris: An agricultural meeting in Ibb governorate discussed on Wednesday plans to expand the cultivation of prickly pear, walnuts, almonds, and olives, and to improve marketing systems for agricultural products.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting brought together officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, including Ibrahim al-Siraji and Mohsen Aatif, along with local agricultural authorities in Ibb. Discussions focused on the economic potential of expanding these crops, challenges such as limited financing, and the need to strengthen agricultural extension services and improve nurseries to provide high-quality seedlings.

Participants also reviewed development interventions in several districts, stressing the importance of improving marketing systems and linking agricultural production with industrial sectors to enhance efficiency and balance supply and demand. Officials reaffirmed support for developing the agricultural sector in Ibb, highlighting the governorate's potential to serve as a key food production hub.
