Ibb Water Basin Committee Approves Urgent Measures to Protect Water Resources

Ibb: The Water Basin Committee in Ibb province, led by Governor Abdulwahid Salah, has approved a series of urgent measures aimed at protecting the region's water resources. The measures include reducing pollution sources and prohibiting the use of sewage water for irrigation within the city and its surrounding areas.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting involved senior local officials who reviewed a technical report presented by Mohamed al-Wurafi, Director of the Provincial Water Resources and Facilities Authority. The report highlighted environmental risks, identified sources of pollution, and proposed viable solutions to address these issues.

The committee's efforts will focus on removing pollution sources, monitoring water quality in wells and supply networks, and implementing sustainable remedies. Governor Salah stressed the need for immediate action to eliminate pollution sources and enforce a strict ban on using sewage for irrigation. He also highlighted the importance of coordination among authorities and the community in safeguarding water resources.

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to legal enforcement measures against environmental violations, emphasizing the critical need to protect the water resources in Ibb province.
