Sana'a: The Ministry of Information and the Yemen General Organization for Radio and Television mourned the passing of journalist Ali Hamoud Al-Asri, who passed away at the age of 71 after a life devoted to serving the nation in both media and sports.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry of Information praised the late Al-Asri's achievements and contributions to media and sports, noting that he was one of Yemen's most prominent sports media figures and commentators, with a career spanning over four decades. The statement highlighted that Al-Asri's life journey was full of sports accomplishments and early stardom, combining both media and athletic fields. He emerged as an unrivaled television star in sports studios, continuing his contributions to the sports sector with distinction and excellence.

The statement noted that the late Ali Al-Asri was known for his distinctive powerful voice and his ability to commentate on various sports. He worked in both radio and television, becoming a memorable voice in Yemen's sports history through his famous program on Yemen TV and the First Channel, 'Youth and Sports.'

The Ministry's statement also reviewed key milestones in Al-Asri's life: he played as a defender for Al-Wehda Club in Sana'a in 1968, joined radio in 1972, gaining prominence as a sports commentator and program host, and later moved to television, becoming the voice of Yemeni sports for many years.

The Ministry praised his influential role, describing him as a leading sports media figure whose legacy continues to resonate in the history of Yemeni sports and media. He is regarded as an enduring voice in the memory of Yemeni sports audiences, having witnessed generations of athletes and documented the nation's sports activities.
