Sanaa:Insan Rights and Freedoms Organization has condemned the alleged mutilation of a Yemeni Armed Forces member's body by Saudi-backed forces. The incident reportedly involved stripping the soldier of his clothes, filming the act, and sharing the footage on social media.
According to Yemen News Agency, the organization issued a statement describing the incident as an affront to basic human and moral values, as well as Yemeni customs. Insan Organization emphasized that such acts degrade human dignity and violate the sanctity of the dead, stressing that a fighter's death does not strip them of their right to dignity.
The statement further highlighted that these actions are a violation of Yemeni customs, which dictate respectful treatment and burial of the deceased. Insan Organization warned that such conduct insults Yemeni society and reflects a moral decline exacerbated by the ongoing Saudi war on Yemen.
The organization reminded that Islamic law prohibits mutilation and desecration of bodies, and international humanitarian law mandates respect and protection for the remains of the dead. It called for the preservation of dignity for all deceased individuals, irrespective of their roles or affiliations in the conflict.
Finally, Insan Organization urged Yemenis to uphold human dignity and not allow the war to erode respect for fundamental values. It reiterated that respect for the dead is a human, religious, and moral imperative that should remain intact even amidst severe conflicts.
