Dawran: The Agricultural Sector in Dhamar governorate conducted a surprise inspection campaign on Thursday targeting shops selling pesticides and agricultural fertilizers in several areas of Dawran Anes district. Dr. Adel Omar, head of the provincial agricultural sector, stated that the campaign is part of a series of regulatory measures to protect humans, animals, plants, and the environment.

According to Yemen News Agency, these efforts aim to ensure the safe handling of chemicals and prevent the circulation of smuggled or expired products, which pose severe risks. The Deputy Head of the sector, Engineer Hafedh al-Junaid, reported that the field visits resulted in the seizure of quantities of expired pesticides.

In addition to enforcement, the team, led by Plant Protection Director Engineer Atiq Al-Abrat, conducted awareness activities for farmers and vendors. They highlighted the catastrophic health consequences of random pesticide use-including the link to rising cancer rates-and provided instructions on safe and responsible application methods to ensure agricultural sustainability.
