Inspection of Phase IV Implementation of Ibb City Western Ring Road Rehabilitation Project

Sana'a: Secretary-General of the Ibb Local Council, Ameen al-Warafi, inspected today the progress of Phase IV of the Western Ring Road Rehabilitation Project in Ibb City, funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Al-Warafi, accompanied by Ibrahim al-Shami, Director of the Governorate's Public Works Office, listened to a briefing from Moti'a al-Harithi, the project consultant, who explained that the fourth phase costs $1.422 million, covering a 5.32 km stretch. The work includes concrete paving, asphalt restoration, curb and median painting, installation of traffic signs, and landscaping. He noted that 25% of the phase has been completed so far.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, the Secretary-General commended UNOPS for funding vital and priority infrastructure projects in the governorate that support local development and improve public services. He urged the project implementers to accelerate completion of the remaining works under this phase in accordance with the agreed technical standards and timeframe, to facilitate traffic movement and prepare for the launch of Phase V of this vital project.

Al-Warafi was accompanied by Isam al-Subari, Deputy Director of the Public Works Office; Aba Thar al-Ghasham, Director of the Facilities Department; and the heads of Zones Three and Five, Abdulrahman al-Sammah and Sakhr al-Nashiri, respectively.

In a related context, Al-Warafi, along with Deputy Governor Qasim al-Masawi and Ibrahim al-Shami, also inspected the Ras Mashoura-al-Odain Road Rehabilitation Project, implemented by the General Authority for Roads and Bridges under the Road Maintenance Fund's financing and supervision. The project, costing 200 million riyals, has achieved 30% completion and includes asphalt and concrete works over a length of 950 meters and a width of eight meters.

Additionally, they inspected the construction progress of the Qahzah and al-Sabil Fountains, with a total cost of 50 million riyals, funded by the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund.
