Discussion on Level of Support Provided by M©decins Sans Fronti¨res to Khamir Hospital


Amran: Amran Governor Dr. Faisal Jaman met today with the head of the French branch of M©decins Sans Fronti¨res (MSF) in Yemen, Dr. Hani Al-Melihi, to discuss the level of support the organization provides to Khomer Central Hospital. The meeting, which was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Houthi, Director of the Health and Environment Office, addressed the possibility of increasing MSF’s support for the hospital, which serves Khomer District and neighboring areas.



According to Yemen News Agency, discussions also reviewed the organization’s ongoing interventions, including the treatment of child malnutrition cases, and efforts to combat and reduce waterborne diseases such as diarrhea. Governor Jaman praised MSF’s contributions in supporting the hospital and providing comprehensive healthcare services, particularly in the areas of child and maternal care and malnutrition treatment. He also commended the organization’s plans for future projects, including expanded interventions in several districts of Amran Governorate, such as Qaflat Udhur District.



For his part, Dr. Al-Melihi indicated the organization’s readiness to extend support to the Qaflat Udhur District Hospital later this year and into 2026, in line with MSF’s mission to improve community healthcare, particularly in maternal and child health. Meanwhile, the provincial Health Office Director affirmed the office’s commitment to facilitating MSF’s operations and enhancing coordination and cooperation with the organization in accordance with Yemen’s health sector policies.
