Investment Minister Approves 139 New Yemeni Standards

Sanaa: Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Eng. Moeen al-Mahaqeri, has approved the issuance of 139 new Yemeni standard specifications for various food and non-food industrial sectors. The initiative focuses on enhancing public health and safety, ensuring environmental protection, and elevating the quality of goods and products.

According to Yemen News Agency, the approval was formalized during a resolution signing event attended by Sam al-Bashiri, Executive Director of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology, and Quality Control. Minister al-Mahaqeri highlighted that these national standards are crucial for overcoming existing challenges in various sectors. He praised the Authority's technical and administrative teams for their efforts in developing legislation that aligns with manufacturing technology and adapts to global advancements.

Al-Bashiri emphasized that the new standards were developed with input from relevant stakeholders through specialized national technical committees, adhering to established regulations and technical guidelines. This collaborative approach ensures that the standards meet both national and international expectations.

Ahmed al-Humaidi, Director of the Standards Department, noted that the adoption of these national standards will help protect importers from commercial fraud, reduce losses for both importers and local producers, and safeguard national capital. The new standards are expected to significantly contribute to the economic stability and growth of the country.
