Iran: Iran's representative and ambassador to the United Nations, Gholam Hossein Darzi, rejected the US accusations leveled against the Islamic Republic regarding its role in Yemen, asserting that they are baseless and unfounded.
According to Yemen News Agency, in a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Ant³nio Guterres, Darzi explained that the recent Iranian flights to Sana'a were humanitarian in nature. He pointed out that the prolonged closure of Sana'a airport and the severe restrictions imposed on it, along with the blockade, have had dire humanitarian consequences for the Yemeni people, as reported by Iran's Al-Alam TV channel on Friday.
He pointed out that the suspension of regular commercial flights since 2016 has deprived millions of Yemenis of their right to freedom of movement and access to basic services, including medical treatment, education, work, family reunification, and humanitarian aid, considering the humanitarian crisis in Yemen to be among the worst in the world.
