Launch of Mawlid & Prophetic Praise Festival at Sana’a Grand Mosque

Sana'a: The ninth season of the Mawlid and Prophetic Praise Festival in Yemeni mosques was launched this evening from the Grand Mosque in the capital, Sana'a.

According to Yemen News Agency, the festival is organized by SAM Foundation for Radio and Television Broadcasting and Imam Zaid Foundation. The festival's activities will continue in mosques across Sana'a and other governorates through Rabi' al-Awwal 11.

At the launch ceremony, chanter Abdulkhaliq Al-Bahri performed traditional Sana'ani chants highlighting aspects of the Prophet Muhammad's biography, guidance, noble character, and virtues. SAM Executive Director Hamoud Sharaf Al-Din stated that the festival, which began at the Grand Mosque, will also be held in Sa'ada, Hajjah, Amran, Hodeidah, Dhamar, Ibb, Al-Bayda, Al-Mahwit, Al-Dhale', Taiz, Marib, and Al-Jawf.

He mentioned that the Mawlid and Prophetic praise events celebrate love for the Prophet and present his biography through Yemen's traditional chanting heritage, with each governorate featuring its own distinctive style. The festival will also include Muhammadi evenings featuring praise of the Prophet, his biography, and his authentic Prophetic path.
