Sanaa: The joint committee from the Presidency and the Public Prosecution inspected today the conditions of prisoners and detainees in police stations under the Southwest Prosecution of the Capital Secretariat, aiming to release as many as possible on the occasion of the anniversary of the noble Prophet's birth for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the field visit included key figures such as the Director General of Prisons and Prisoners Affairs at the Presidency, Jihad Ghathaya, and the Deputy Prosecutor of the Southwest, Judge Abdulilah Salah, along with committee members Akram Al-Hababi and Abdullah Al-Wadhaf. The committee engaged in discussions with officials from the police stations of Sohail, Haddah Area, Al-Nasr, and Al-Balili concerning deposit and release movements, the progress of arrest procedures, file preparation, and referral to the prosecution, while also reviewing records related to prisoners.
The committee heard from prisoners about the time spent in detention pending investigation and those referred for trial, as well as detainees held pending inquiries. Directions were issued to release a number of them in accordance with legal controls and guarantees, and others due to insufficient evidence.
The ongoing field visits to prisons and detention centers are in line with directives from the Revolution Leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the Public Prosecutor. The committee emphasized that these releases reflect the values of tolerance and mercy associated with Mawlid al-Nabawi, highlighting the significance of this humanitarian step in reuniting families and alleviating the suffering of prisoners and their families, thereby reflecting the leadership's commitment to citizens' conditions and rights protection.
