Launch of Agricultural and Developmental Activities in Summer Schools

Taiz: The Acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Al-Masawi, launched today the distribution of 16,000 seedlings as part of the agricultural and developmental activities in summer schools across the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the launch event was attended by key officials including the Mobilization Officer in the governorate, Mohammed Al-Khalidi; Deputy Governor for Development Affairs, Abdul Wasea Al-Shamsi; the Head of the Agriculture Sector, Engineer Abdullah Al-Jundi; the Director of Khadir District, Fares Al-Jaradi; and the Mobilization Officer in the district, Nasser Al-Hamdani. The Acting Governor emphasized that these summer courses serve as incubators of awareness and fields of knowledge and action, contributing to immunizing youth and adolescents against external influences.

Al-Masawi highlighted that these courses are crucial for enhancing awareness and building capacities. He pointed out the significance of dedicating a week to agricultural activities within summer center programs, reflecting the importance of the agricultural sector and its role in achieving self-sufficiency. He noted that such activities enable students to understand concepts like agricultural expansion, afforestation, and water resource preservation, thereby strengthening their connection to the land.

The Acting Governor remarked that the current push for self-sufficiency is an extension of Yemen's ancient agricultural civilization, urging the revival of agricultural heritage and development of production. He called on relevant authorities to engage with the summer course programs and lauded the efforts of the agriculture sector in providing seedlings to summer centers throughout the governorate.

Deputy Governor Al-Shamsi explained that the agricultural activity aims to teach students the basics of agriculture and how to achieve self-sufficiency. He stated that the goal is to transform summer centers into productive models, representing a link in a series of programs aimed at holistic student development.

Engineer Abdullah Al-Jundi, Head of the Agriculture Sector, affirmed the importance of these activities in fostering agricultural culture among generations and enhancing self-sufficiency. He explained that the launch of agricultural activities in summer courses reflects increased awareness and knowledge, aiming to build youth capacities and enhance their understanding of agriculture's role in supporting the national economy.
