Sana’a: The fourth-quarter sports activities for the year 2025 were launched on Friday in Sana’a, organized by the sports federations under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and funded by the Youth Welfare Fund.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ‘Martyrs’ Way to Al-Quds’ football tournament for the deaf, targeting youth and junior categories, was inaugurated. This event is organized by the General Federation for Deaf Sports and is held in conjunction with the 1447 AH annual Martyr’s commemoration.
The tournament, continuing until 13 November, features 78 players divided among eight teams in two groups. These teams represent the Deaf Club in Amanah, the Deaf Association, Al-Mustaqbal School, and Al-Amal School.
Two opening matches took place at the Recreational Club’s stadium. In the first match, juniors from Al-Mustaqbal School defeated the Deaf Club in Amanah 2-1. Meanwhile, the Deaf Association team secured a 1-0 victory over Al-Amal School’s team.
Ali Hadban, Deputy Director of the Sports Sector, stated that these sports activities are part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ fourth-quarter plan. The activities aim to promote sports events across various games, enhance participation among all groups, discover and nurture talents, and foster camaraderie and friendly competition among youth.
He also noted that the tournament coincides with the commemoration of Martyrs’ Day, honoring those who sacrificed their lives in defense of the homeland and on the path to Al-Quds.
Ahmed Al-Qamra’a, President of the General Federation for Deaf Sports, affirmed that the tournament is part of the sports activities accompanying the annual Martyrs’ commemoration. He emphasized its importance as an outlet for junior and youth deaf athletes to continue their sports activities, develop their abilities, and reinforce values of resilience and national belonging through sports.
