Sana'a: The Preparatory Committee for the Yemeni Medicinal Honey Scientific Conference has launched the conference's official website, serving as a digital platform to communicate with all relevant stakeholders and to receive participation requests from academics, researchers, and specialists wishing to contribute to its events, sessions, and scientific workshops.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee explained that the conference, which will be held in the capital Sana'a from 16 to 18 August 2026 under the theme 'Yemeni Honey: From Natural Heritage to a National Medicine,' aims to establish this historic product as one of the pharmaceutical industries and to shape a new phase that places Yemen on the map of therapeutic innovation based on local resources.
The conference, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and organized by a number of relevant ministries, unions, institutions, and universities, focuses on supporting the national economy, strengthening pharmaceutical security, and contributing to rural community development.
The Head of the Preparatory Committee, Dr. Ghassan Al-Madani, stated that launching the conference website comes as part of efforts to enable broad participation from researchers, academics, and interested parties, contributing to the development of Yemeni honey as an economic resource, enhancing its role in food and health pharmaceutical security.
He emphasized the importance of unifying efforts between scientific research and the economic and industrial sectors to document the scientific properties of Yemeni honey and to establish regulatory frameworks that ensure its quality and sustainability. He also highlighted the need to build an integrated partnership among all relevant stakeholders to create a national medicinal honey industry, offering more efficient and lower-cost alternatives, thereby reducing import expenses in line with government policies aimed at localizing industries.
The conference will address several key themes, including pharmaceutical security to enhance drug independence through national resources, and value addition to increase the economic value of honey in markets.
It will also include research and innovation through support for advanced scientific and clinical studies, in addition to sustainability to protect biodiversity and traditional apiaries.
The Preparatory Committee called on academics and interested parties to register and submit research papers and working papers through the conference website.
The committee confirmed that the technical and scientific committees have begun reviewing and evaluating submissions in coordination with all partners, to ensure that the conference produces practical recommendations and legislative decisions that contribute to turning this national vision into a tangible reality that serves sustainable development in the country.
