Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Recorded East of Gulf of Aden

Aden:The Earthquake and Volcano Monitoring and Research Center recorded two earthquakes on Wednesday, one occurring east of the Gulf of Aden and another in Abyan province.

According to Yemen News Agency, the center's director, Mohammed Al-Houthi, reported that a magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck east of the Gulf of Aden at a depth of 10 kilometers at 8:11 p.m. on Tuesday. Additionally, a magnitude 2.8 tremor was recorded northeast of Ahwar District in Abyan at 2:53 a.m., with a depth of 11 kilometers.

Al-Houthi explained that the light seismic activity in certain parts of Yemen results from accumulated stress in the Earth's crust rocks. This activity is also influenced by seismic interactions along the African Plate, the ongoing opening of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and the movement of the Arabian Plate away from the African Plate.
