Hodeida: Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi launched on Tuesday a market monitoring campaign implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment in the governorate in anticipation of the upcoming Ramadan. The campaign aims to strengthen price controls and curb market violations, ensuring adherence to the approved pricing list in markets and commercial outlets.

According to Yemen News Agency, this initiative seeks to prevent monopolistic and exploitative practices, especially with the increased demand for basic goods during Ramadan. During the launch, governor Atifi emphasized the importance of intensifying monitoring efforts to maintain price stability and protect citizens from exploitation. He stressed the need for clear display of price lists in all shops to ensure consumer transparency.

Director of the Ministry of Economy in the governorate, Saleh Atifi, explained that the campaign will target central markets, commercial districts, and various districts of Hodeida, with daily field inspections throughout Ramadan. He added that complaints from citizens will be promptly addressed.

Atifi also called on traders to cooperate with monitoring teams and comply with commercial laws, noting that the office would take strict action against violators, including issuing fines and referring offenders to the relevant authorities, to maintain market stability and protect consumers.
