Hodeida: Thousands of students from Hodeida University staged a mass rally on Wednesday in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, denouncing the crimes of starvation and genocide committed by the Zionist entity against civilians, as well as the complicity of allied regimes.
According to Yemen News Agency, the rally marched through several streets before gathering in the central square, with the participation of academic leaders, faculty members, assistants, and students from across the university's colleges. The scene reflected deep popular and academic unity with the Palestinian cause.
Participants waved Palestinian and Yemeni flags and carried banners rejecting normalization and complicity with the occupation, chanting slogans affirming that Palestine remains rooted in the Yemeni conscience, and that supporting Gaza is a religious and national duty.
They strongly condemned the positions of some Arab and Islamic states that have opened their ports and crossings to the Zionist enemy, describing this as a moral and historical failure that exposes their complicity.
A statement issued at the rally reaffirmed the university's support for the Palestinian struggle, denouncing ongoing crimes in Gaza and stressing that Yemen will continue to stand with the Palestinian people until they achieve freedom, independence, and the establishment of their state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement further described Arab and Islamic silence as a betrayal of religious and humanitarian responsibility, calling on free peoples worldwide to take practical action to pressure regimes complicit with the occupation.
It also highlighted the paradox of Gaza remaining under siege for more than two years while ports in Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia are open to Israeli-bound vessels, providing safe passages that bolster the occupation's economy and prolong its crimes.
The statement affirmed that Hodeida University remains at the forefront of national institutions supporting the Palestinian cause through academic and cultural activities that nurture awareness and instill values of resistance in future generations.
It concluded by calling on global movements to boycott the Zionist entity and deprive it of resources and markets, stressing that supporting Palestine is both a faith-based commitment and a humanitarian duty, and that Yemen will remain steadfast in defending the causes of the Ummah until Palestinians achieve full sovereignty on their land.
