Meeting at Ministry of Culture, Tourism Discusses Issues of Poets & Performers

Sana'a: The Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Abdullah Al-Washli, held a meeting with the Head of the Yemeni Poets and Performers Union, Dhaifallah Salman, to address several issues pertinent to poetry and performative chanting.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which included the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism for the Copyrights and Intellectual Property Sector, Abdulmalik Al-Qatta', focused on the challenges faced by poets and performers and explored potential solutions. The discussion highlighted the need to organize relationships between artists, telecommunications companies, and production and distribution companies to secure their intellectual and material rights.

The meeting also covered the Ministry's plans and the involvement of cultural and artistic institutions and unions in commemorating the Prophet's birthday (Mawlid) 1448 AH. The collaboration of the Union in these events was emphasized as significant.

The Deputy Minister stressed the need for cooperation between the Ministry and the Union to resolve existing challenges and achieve shared objectives. He pointed out the importance of addressing value-added tax issues and regulating relationships with production companies to protect the rights of poets and performers, ensuring the preservation of heritage.

He affirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting poets and performers by providing the necessary support and facilities to propel creative endeavors. The enhancement of cooperation between the Ministry, the Union, and cultural and artistic groups was recognized as crucial.

Dhaifallah Salman expressed gratitude towards the Ministry's support for cultural and artistic development. He confirmed the Union's commitment to working alongside the Ministry to promote Yemen's cultural identity and heritage.
