Meeting Chaired by Al-Nuaimi Discusses Ways to Support Agricultural and Fisheries Projects

Sana'a: A meeting in Sana'a today, chaired by Supreme Political Council member Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, discussed mechanisms to develop and support agricultural and fisheries activities and projects, addressing the needs and requirements of food security in Yemen.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Local Administration and Rural Development Mohammed Al-Madani and Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radhwan Al-Rubaie. The attendees reviewed the needs of priority developmental sectors, particularly those related to agricultural and fisheries projects.

Al-Nuaimi emphasized the commitment to supporting agricultural and fisheries projects, achieving a qualitative shift in these sectors, and expanding agricultural land. He stressed the importance of enhancing cooperative work to contribute to self-sufficiency.

He highlighted the need to support research activities and targeted projects through practical steps, aligning with the directives of the revolution leader to achieve agricultural self-sufficiency and reduce imports.

Al-Nuaimi urged the preparation of economic feasibility studies for priority agricultural and fisheries projects, noting that these sectors are critical for food security. They can provide employment opportunities for farmers and fishermen and income sources for rural and coastal families.

He called for increased efforts to provide facilities for farmers and fishermen, improve marketing and advisory services, and encourage investments in agriculture and fisheries.

Al-Nuaimi stressed the necessity of developing a time-bound plan for needs, particularly in agriculture, and focusing on urgent and important projects.

The meeting was also attended by deputies of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, and the head of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak Al-Qaili.
