Meeting Explores Strategies to Boost Fisheries Authority Services in Mocha

Mocha: A meeting held on Tuesday in Mocha city of Taiz governorate discussed mechanisms to enhance the services of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea. The focus was on activating the role of its Taiz branch to meet the needs of fishermen in the liberated areas and improve services at fishing ports and landing centers within the branch's jurisdiction.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting reviewed the branch's field activities and the efforts of the field team from the Authority's headquarters in Hodeida governorate. The team has been assessing the conditions of fishing centers and following up on fishermen's needs since the liberation of the western coastal areas.

The meeting addressed the conditions of fishing ports and landing centers extending from Mocha to Bab al-Mandab, as well as the basic needs of fishermen and their communities. It also discussed mechanisms for developing services provided to them and strengthening fisheries-sector activities in a way that contributes to supporting production and improving the living conditions of coastal communities.

The participants stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and integration between the Authority, the local authority, and relevant agencies. They emphasized the need for concerted efforts to provide the necessary needs of fishing communities and improve services in the liberated areas, thereby strengthening the role of the fisheries sector in supporting the local economy.

They underscored the importance of continuing field visits, assessing the conditions of fishing centers, identifying needs and priorities, and developing appropriate solutions. These measures aim to address them in line with the requirements of the current stage and to enhance fishermen's stability and restore their productive activities.

The participants also highlighted the need to pay attention to the conditions of residents of the liberated districts and fishing communities. They discussed addressing the psychological and material effects suffered in recent years, in line with the directives of Revolution Leader Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and the leadership's directives in this regard.
