Taiz: A meeting in Taiz Governorate, chaired by the Deputy Governor for Development Affairs, Abdul Wasea Al-Shamsi, discussed aspects of the national initiative for date palm seedling and planting, which was launched at the beginning of Ramadan. The initiative aims to expand date palm cultivation and boost local date production.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by the head of the agricultural sector in the governorate, Engineer Abdullah Al-Jundi, the Secretary-General of the Union branch, Mazen Abdul-Hay, the Executive Director of the Union branch, Amer Al-Ahdal, and the coordinator of the Bunyan Foundation, Iyad Awaj. They reviewed the progress made in implementing the date palm seedling and planting initiative in several districts by official bodies, mobilization efforts, associations, development volunteers, and community members.
Deputy Governor Al-Shamsi emphasized that the meeting was held in accordance with the directives of the local authority leadership to enhance date palm production and expand community participation in sustainable agricultural projects. He noted that date palm cultivation represents an important step towards utilizing local resources and achieving food security, urging everyone to pay attention to agricultural lands and invest in them to contribute to supporting the local economy. Al-Shamsi explained that planting date palm seeds is a simple step, but it has the potential to have a significant impact in the future if all families participate in this initiative.
