Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast scattered and varying thunderstorms over the western mountain highlands and inland plateaus during the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center anticipates thunderstorms of varying intensity over parts of the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhalea, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, Amran, and Hajjah. The forecast also includes the western parts of Dhamar, Sana'a and Saada, and parts of the Tihama Plain.
Scattered rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder, may affect parts of the highlands and plateaus of Al-Bayda, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwah, Hadramawt, and Al-Mahrah.
The center has issued warnings to citizens regarding the sudden flow of flash floods in ravines and valleys, advising against being in their paths or attempting to cross them during and after rainfall.
It further cautioned about thunderstorms and downdraft winds, recommending to avoid elevated areas or walking on open ground, and advised against using mobile phones or taking shelter under tall trees. Disconnecting electrical power during thunderstorms was also advised.
Moreover, the center warned of potential rockfalls, mudslides, and reduced horizontal visibility on roads and mountain slopes due to rainfall and fog formation.
