Meteorology Forecasts Thundery Rainfall, Strong Winds

Beijing: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning forecast thundery rainfall over parts of several governorates and strong winds around the Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coasts during the next 24 hours. According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center indicates that thunderstorms of varying intensity, which may be accompanied by hail, are expected over parts of the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Amran, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, and the highlands of the Tihama Plain. Scattered rainfall, accompanied at times by thunder, is also likely over parts of the highlands of Sana'a, Al-Dhalea, Al-Bayda, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwah, Hadramout, and Al-Mahrah. Active to strong winds are anticipated around the Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coasts. The center has issued warnings to citizens about potential flash floods in valleys and watercourses. It adv ises against being present in or crossing these areas during and after rainfall due to the dangers posed by thunderstorms. Furthermore, drivers on roads and mountain slopes have been cautioned about reduced horizontal visibility, rockfalls, mudslides, and the risks of crossing low-lying bridges during the flow of flash floods. The center has also alerted seafarers, fishermen, and ship captains to the rough seas and high waves expected in affected areas.
