Sana'a: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a forecast predicting rough seas in the Socotra Archipelago and the Gulf of Aden, driven by prevailing winds, with hot to extremely hot weather conditions anticipated along the coasts and deserts. Scattered rainfall is also expected in mountainous regions over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin highlights the expectation of strong to very strong winds across the Socotra Archipelago and the Gulf of Aden. Coastal and desert areas are likely to experience hot to extremely hot temperatures, while coastal regions are set to remain humid and hot.
The bulletin also suggests the possibility of scattered rain, occasionally accompanied by thunder, in specific governorates including Taiz, Ibb, Dhale'a, Dhamar, Raymah, Mahwit, Hajjah, and parts of western Sana'a, Amran, and Saada. The forecast also extends to parts of the highlands in Lahj and Abyan governorates.
Meteorological stations recorded rainfall amounts of 5.8 mm and 4.1 mm in Rasaba, Dhamar, and Ad Dali', respectively. Scattered rains, some with thunder, were also reported in Lahj, Taiz, Hajjah, and Amran governorates, beyond the stations' coverage.
The center has issued warnings to seagoers, fishermen, and ship captains regarding high seas and rough waves in the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern Gulf of Aden, and the eastern coasts. Additionally, residents in deserts and coastal plains are cautioned about the hot and extremely hot weather, with advice to avoid direct sun exposure during afternoon hours.
Citizens in mountainous areas where rainfall is anticipated are cautioned against remaining in or crossing floodwaters during and after the rainfall.
