Meteorology Warns of Thundery Rainfall and Extreme Temperatures

Sana’a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecasted thunderstorms of varying intensity across several governorates, alongside hot to very hot weather conditions in desert, inland plateau, and coastal plain areas over the next 24 hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the center’s weather bulletin indicates that thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Dhamar, Al-Mahwit, and the Tihama Plain. Additionally, scattered rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is anticipated in Saada, Hajjah, Amran, Sana’a, Al-Bayda, and the highlands of Lahj and Abyan.

The forecast also highlights that temperatures in desert, inland plateau, and coastal plain regions could reach between 36-41 degrees Celsius, posing a risk of extreme heat.

The center has issued warnings to citizens about potential flash floods in ravines and valleys, advising them to avoid these areas during and after rainfall. It also cautioned against thunderstorms and recommended staying away from electric poles and tall trees due to lightning risks.

Furthermore, the center alerted the public to the dangers of rockfalls, mudslides, and reduced visibility on roads and mountain slopes caused by rain and fog. People in desert and coastal plain areas have been advised to take precautions against the expected hot weather.
