Sana'a: The funeral procession for Qasim Ali Zubaydah, affectionately known as the "Sheikh of Yemeni Munshedeen," took place on Saturday in the capital city of Sana'a. Zubaydah, who passed away at the age of 75, was celebrated for his lifelong dedication to his country and his significant contributions to the field of religious chanting.
According to Yemen News Agency, the procession was led by Acting Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah, alongside various officials, family members, and relatives of the deceased. Mourners reflected on Zubaydah's influence and his prominent role in the art of chanting, acknowledging him as a central figure in the tradition. His melodious voice and powerful renditions of religious and traditional chants earned him the title "Sheikh of Yemeni Singers."
The gathering of citizens at the funeral highlighted Zubaydah's reputation as the "Nightingale of the Chanters" due to his sweet voice and his exceptional interpretation of authentic Sana'ani and Yemeni chants. His leadership of the Yemeni Chanters Association and his personal contributions were noted as crucial to preserving Yemen's chanting heritage.
