Accra:The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology has strongly condemned the ongoing targeting of telecommunications infrastructure by Saudi air forces throughout Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry highlighted that these attacks are systematically destroying infrastructure and causing civilian casualties. Additionally, they disrupt essential services vital to citizens' lives and safety.
The Ministry reported that since early August, 902 telecommunications sites have been rendered inoperative due to these airstrikes. Over the past 11 years, more than 2,764 airstrikes have resulted in significant destruction and the loss of 80 personnel, affecting over 1,104 facilities.
Stressing the civilian nature of the telecommunications sector, the Ministry emphasized its importance to families, hospitals, educational institutions, and humanitarian activities. It criticized the Saudi allegations as baseless and intended to isolate Yemen from the global community.
The Ministry also attributed responsibility for these attacks and their repercussions to the Saudi forces, while asserting the resilience of the Yemeni people and the commitment of telecommunications personnel to continue their work despite the challenges.
