Sana'a: A meeting was held today in Sana'a, led by Dr. Radwan Al-Rubaie, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, to discuss the strategic plan for the ministry for the year 1447 AH. The meeting brought together ministry officials and heads of affiliated bodies and institutions to assess past efforts and discuss future programs focused on expanding agricultural and fishery production.
According to Yemen News Agency, the discussions emphasized the critical role these entities play in enhancing food security through the production of staple crops. The meeting also addressed groundwater recharge projects, rainwater harvesting, and the major challenges facing the implementation of development plans. The attendees worked on transforming these challenges into opportunities by fostering coordinated efforts and role integration among stakeholders.
Minister Al-Rubaie highlighted the significant impact of the agricultural and fishery sectors in reducing import costs. He stressed the necessity of aligning with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the Change and Development Government Program. These directives were identified as essential foundations for preparing and implementing agricultural and development plans, particularly through the value chain methodology.
The minister pointed to contract farming as a promising avenue to achieve self-sufficiency in various crops, enhance exports, and replace imported goods with local produce. The meeting concluded with discussions and proposals that offered practical solutions to overcome challenges and accelerate the development of the agricultural and fishery sectors.
