Ministry of Electricity Reports Trillions in Losses Due to Yemen Blockade and Aggression

General

Sana'a: The Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water has announced that over nearly 12 years, the ongoing aggression and blockade against Yemen have resulted in devastating losses and damage to the electricity and water sectors, estimated at over 15 trillion riyals, or approximately $28 billion.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry revealed that the aggression, involving the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, has severely affected Yemen's infrastructure. The electricity and water sectors have been particularly hard hit, with direct attacks on power generation plants, transmission and distribution networks, and water facilities. The blockade has further compounded these issues by disrupting supply lines and restricting the entry of necessary spare parts, fuel, and equipment for maintenance.

The Ministry's statement detailed the broader impact of the coalition's actions, including a blockade on airports and seaports, which has severely affected the daily lives of millions of Yemenis. The blockade has also caused substantial damage to service institutions and facilities across various governorates, impacting both subscribers and essential services.

In response to these challenges, the Ministry expressed support for the Armed Forces' maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, framing it as a legitimate defensive measure. This action is seen as a necessary response to the ongoing aggression and its effects on the Yemeni populace, aiming to protect national interests and resources.

The Ministry also highlighted the support from the Yemeni people, who have shown solidarity with the leadership and Armed Forces through public demonstrations and marches. It called for unity among the population to reclaim rights, lift the blockade, end the aggression, and restore sovereign resources, ensuring the Yemeni people can enjoy their legitimate rights.
