Muscat: The Muscat Stock Exchange's main index experienced a notable rise of 210 points last week, marking a new upward trend and a recovery from the previous week's loss of 177 points. This performance represents the exchange's best in four weeks, closing last week's trading at 8,369 points. According to Yemen News Agency, the gains made by leading stocks were instrumental in propelling the main index upward. All sectoral indices recorded gains, with the financial sector index rising by 210 points, the industrial sector index by 123 points, the services sector index by 84 points, and the Sharia-compliant index closing at 656 points after a 10-point increase. The Muscat Stock Exchange saw price increases in 56 securities, while 22 securities experienced declines, and 21 remained unchanged. The market capitalization of securities listed on the exchange recorded weekly gains of OMR 351.3 million, reaching OMR 38.4305 billion by the end of trading on Thursday. Trading value saw a 25 percent increase last week , rising to OMR 370.1 million from the previous week's OMR 294.5 million. The number of executed transactions also rose by 8.6 percent, from approximately 25,000 to over 27,000. Additionally, the MSX listed the 83rd issue of government development bonds on the bonds and sukuk market, valued at OMR 100 million with an annual interest rate of 4.2 percent. This listing marks the fourth government development bond issue on the MSX this year.
