Muscat: European stocks stabilized on Monday after a strong performance last week, with investors focusing on new deals.
According to Yemen News Agency, the pan-European STOXX 600 index closed at 652.84 points, after posting its best weekly performance since mid-May on Friday.
Shares in British low-cost airline easyJet jumped 11 percent after the company agreed in principle to an enhanced takeover offer from US investment firm Castle Lake, which valued the company at up to £5.5 billion ($7.34 billion).
The broader travel and leisure sector led sectoral gains, rising 1 percent.
Shares in French defense firm Thales fell 1.4 percent, while Ferrari shares rose 2 percent after the sports car manufacturer launched a limited-edition model with a 12-cylinder engine and manual transmission.
