Sanaa: The Parliamentary Committees on Media, Culture, and Tourism, as well as Public Health and Population, held a joint meeting chaired by Mohammed Al-Junaid, Rapporteur of the Media Committee, and attended by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Harib, Chairman of the Health Committee, Khaled Al-Ansi, its Rapporteur, and the government side represented by Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf Al-Din.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, also attended by Deputy Minister of Information Dr. Omar Al-Bakheiti and several ministry specialists, discussed the general program of the Government of Change and Reconstruction. The focus was on the role of media in addressing the current challenges, the importance of adapting media coverage to recent developments in Yemen, and strengthening national resilience against misinformation campaigns. The discussion emphasized using all media platforms, including social media, to promote public health education and awareness.
Al-Junaid welcomed the Minister and his Deputy, highlighting the vital role of media in public awareness, particularly health education. He stressed the importance of exposing crimes committed in Gaza with U.S. support and the need for coordinated media efforts to counter false narratives.
The Chairman of the Health Committee stressed the importance of public health awareness. The Rapporteur of the Health Committee praised the Ministry of Information's role in combating hostile media campaigns and acknowledged the efforts of the Minister and his team.
Minister of Information Sharaf Al-Din confirmed the Ministry's dedication to improving media content to counter enemy narratives. He reviewed actions taken by the Ministry to implement parliamentary recommendations and revealed plans for a comprehensive media law covering all media forms. The Minister also addressed the challenges faced by the Ministry due to the ongoing aggression and blockade.
In a related parliamentary context, the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs held a meeting attended by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Sameer Baje'ala. The meeting discussed the Government of Change and Reconstruction's agenda, focusing on strengthening resilience, improving public services, and fostering social welfare. Minister Baje'ala provided updates on the implementation of parliamentary recommendations and outlined ministry-led humanitarian interventions.
The Trade and Industry Committee held a meeting to review the ministry's progress in implementing parliamentary recommendations. The meeting addressed damages caused by Zionist aggression to industrial facilities and discussed necessary rehabilitation steps. The committee requested written responses from government representatives for further analysis.
Additionally, the Local Authority Committee and the Financial Affairs Committee held meetings to discuss progress on government responsibilities and financial policies. The Financial Affairs Committee focused on economic recommendations and efforts to increase public revenues, control spending, and enhance public financial oversight. Both committees agreed to continue reviewing responses and draft final reports for Parliament.
