Sanaa: The General Federation of Yemeni Workers' Unions affirmed that the aggression targeting Yemen since early 2024 comes within the context of the US-Israeli-Western offensive aimed at stopping the Yemeni people's support for the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip. This was stated in remarks delivered by the Secretary of the Foreign Relations and Media Department of the Federation, Yahya Al-Tabeeb, during the second online lecture organized by the International Workers Institute (IWI) on 'The Causes of the War Against Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine,' with the participation of trade unionists and representatives of international labor federations and organizations.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Tabeeb pointed out that Yemen, through its resilience, has changed the balance of power and broken traditional military concepts, stressing full solidarity with the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela, as well as with the working class and free forces confronting U.S. dominance, Israeli arrogance, and Western bias.
He reviewed the toll of the aggression on Yemen from January 2024 to September 2025, noting that the number of American, Israeli, and British airstrikes reached 2,801 raids, resulting in 1,669 civilian casualties, including 441 killed and 1,228 injured, among them many children and women.
The Secretary of Foreign Relations and Media of the Yemeni Workers' Unions Federation explained that the aggression directly targeted ports, airports, residential neighborhoods, hospitals, health centers, telecommunications and electricity facilities, factories, and oil installations, considering this full-fledged war crimes and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
He noted that the military alliances formed by the United States and its allies to stop Yemen's support for Gaza had failed, despite massive mobilization and the use of aircraft carriers and lethal weapons, stressing that Yemen has managed to endure and continue its support for the Palestinian people.
Al-Tabeeb called for the formation of an independent international investigation committee under the supervision of the Human Rights Council or the Security Council to investigate crimes committed against Yemen, and to refer those responsible to the International Criminal Court, in addition to establishing an international fund to compensate victims and redress humanitarian and economic damages.
He also demanded the lifting of the blockade and punitive measures imposed on Yemen, describing them as a form of collective punishment prohibited under international law, and called for international solidarity campaigns to support the Yemeni people and expose the crimes they are subjected to.
He praised the resilience of the Islamic resistance in Lebanon and its popular support base, commending the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their resistance in facing the war of extermination in Gaza, extending greetings to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian people for their 'heroic stance' in confronting the Israeli entity and the U.S. administration.
