Sa'ada: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has raised concerns following reports of airstrikes that targeted a migrant shelter in Sa'ada Governorate overnight.
According to Yemen News Agency, OCHA's office in Yemen issued a release indicating that preliminary data shows 68 migrants were killed and dozens more were injured due to the airstrikes. These numbers are expected to increase as search and rescue operations continue.
The office highlighted that hospitals in Sa'ada are facing significant challenges due to limited capacity and resources. Two nearby hospitals have already received over 50 injured individuals, most of whom are in critical condition.
OCHA further noted that airstrikes present an ongoing threat to civilians in Yemen. Additional reports have confirmed that eight people were killed and six were injured, including women and children, in Bani Al-Harith District in the capital's municipality last evening.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has called on all parties involved to adhere to international humanitarian law, emphasizing the need for the protection of civilians.
